Since 1995, the Center for Innovative Food Technology (CIFT) has provided technical solutions to companies involved in some of Ohio’s largest and most economically significant industries: food production, processing, and packaging.
The Ohio Food Industry Expo will be held where food manufacturers and auxiliary service providers can convene to discover new techniques, learn of industry trends, and identify valuable resources that will strengthen the already sizable industry of more than 1,000 food manufacturers in Ohio.
The numerous products and services available to the food industry will be presented by professionals through educational sessions as well as showcased directly through exhibit space. This is a premier opportunity to access many core food industry representatives from Kraft to Rockwell Automation, and other nationally-recognized businesses.

Dr. David Acheson, Managing Director, Food and Import Safety Practice, Leavitt Partners
Topic: "Food Safety Modernization Act"
Dr. David William Kennedy Acheson is the Managing Director, Food and Import Safety Practice, at Leavitt Partners. Founded by former U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary and EPA Administrator Michael O. Leavitt, the partnership advises clients in the health care and food safety sectors.
As Managing Director of the Food and Import Safety Practice, Dr. Acheson helps clients enter new markets, enhances the value of their products, navigates dynamic regulatory and reimbursement systems, and improves health conditions around the world.
In addition to Dr. Acheson, the president of one of the nation’s leading food, beverage and supplement industry’s trend tracking and forecasting experts, Dr. A. Elizabeth Sloan, president, Sloan Trends, Inc., will present “Trends for Tomorrow, Decisions of Today.”
Dr. Sloan is also the consumer and product trends columnist and a contributing editor to Food Technology magazine, the North American marketing columnist for Functional Foods & Nutraceuticals magazine, and a regular columnist for the culinary publication, Flavor & The Menu. She previously served as editor-in-chief for McCall’s magazine, as well as director of the Good Housekeeping Institute. She has authored more than 400 articles on food marketing and trends, and has appeared on TODAY, Good Morning America and numerous other television interviews.
Several other high-caliber presenters will share their perspective and insight, including executives from NSF International, Grocery Manufacturers Association, SUPERVALU, The Wornick Company, WILD Flavors, Sandridge Food Corporation, and more.
Food manufacturers, academic partners, service providers, technicians, economic development leaders, industry-related organizations, political representatives, agricultural producers and more will learn from experts on advanced processing techniques, retailer sustainability, Global Food Safety Initiative (or GFSI), supply chain certification, advanced technologies, food industry trends.
